I guess the demand for multiplayer scroll-shooters proved to be not very high on PC, because Demonstar remained deservedly little-known, even compared to Raptor. I think sacrifices were made to make it multiplayer - this is why it doesn't have a shop, for example, so that players wouldn't spend several minutes picking the best weapon between levels, and also it's the reason for Continues system. While in Raptor they were to big, and there wasn't much room to move in, in Demonstar, they are just stupid and unvaried.Īll in all, I think Demonstar is a "dumbed down" shooter compared to Raptor. The most thrilling vertical scrolling shooter on the market DemonStar takes shooters to the extreme with Multiplayer/Network capabilities, Force Feedback. One thing Demonstar HAS in common with Raptor is boring bosses. This means there are no really hard waves in levels and there are generally no hard levels. DemonStar takes shooters to the extreme with Multiplayer/Network capabilities, Force Feedback joystick support, 3-D rendered graphics, explosive sound effects, and a brilliant soundtrack. Since all weapons are picked up in level, and you lose all weapons when you die, all levels are balanced so that player can even beat them with the simplest weapon (on Normal difficulty).

I've tried Demonstar, and I must say I became interested in developer's history.
